High Desert Volleyball League is proud to offer a unique, athlete centered league designed to fit your team’s competitive level. HDVL is open to teams of all ages and levels, from 12u-18u. Whether your team is a LOCAL, REGIONAL, or NATIONAL traveling team, we can provide a competitively beneficial experience for you.
HDVL is the only JVA sanctioned league in Southern Idaho, ensuring a high level of coaching education, player safety, officiating, while allowing all teams of any affiliation to participate. Whether your team is affiliated with USA volleyball, AAU Volleyball, or has no affiliation, you can participate in JVA events.
The JVA Vision is to be the premier organization to serve all the needs of the Junior Volleyball Community. JVA is the ONLY national association that is 100% focused on junior volleyball and the needs of junior clubs. They are the leaders and forward thinkers in Junior Volleyball Programs and are a voice for junior clubs. Their number one goal is to help club programs and events thrive by uniting club directors, coaches and educators to improve the junior volleyball experience.
In 2018, the High Desert Volleyball League was created to provide quality local volleyball tournaments in the Treasure Valley. HDVL welcomes all clubs to its events!
The Icebreaker tournaments is a one day pool play event that was designed as an informal opportunity for teams to play in December. Official jerseys are not required and no officials or official scoresheets are used. Coaches will officiate.
The two day events (Friday night & Saturday all day) consist of pool play on Friday afternoon/evening, reseeded pool play Saturday morning, followed by single elimination bracket play.
Teams are seeded based on where they finish in the previous event. Teams will (ideally) be split into power pods of 8-16 teams (i.e. teams 1-8 in pod 1, teams 9-16 in pod 2, etc) and the pool will be snake seeded across two courts. Teams will play a standard 4 team pool schedule. This will allow more movement up and down to allow teams to see different competition in each event.
Teams are welcome to attend any event, and are not required to attend all events. However, seeding for events is based on participation in the league, so skipping events can effect seeding.hey
HDVL is sanctioned by the Junior Volleyball Association. Players and coaches do not have to register with any specific organization to participate in HDVL events. Whether your team is registered with AAU, USAV, or not registered at all, you are welcome to play in HDVL events.
Each player on the roster will need to submit a JVA Waiver & Release of liability to their team coach. The team coach will to submit a form at event check-in confirming they have all waivers and releases. All rostered adults will need a valid background check through JVA or USAV.
See the HDVL PARTICIPATION GUIDE below for complete details on the process.
